Rental Agreement Summary
Rocket City Retro Rides LLC • Huntsville, Alabama
Before you book a classic ride with us, please read this summary of how our rental process works.
This summary is for convenience only — the full Vehicle Rental Agreement (Form RCRR-2026) is the binding contract, and you’ll sign it at pickup.
Who Can Rent
• Minimum age 18. Renters 18–20 and 21–24 pay higher deposits and are limited to specific vehicles in our fleet. Standard rates and full availability apply at 25+.
• U.S. driver’s license required. We do not accept international driver’s licenses or International Driving Permits under any circumstances.
• Government-issued photo ID. A valid U.S. state-issued driver’s license or state ID. Your DOB must match what you provided. Expired or altered IDs mean the rental is refused and your deposit is kept as a cancellation fee.
• MVR check. We run a motor vehicle record check with your signed consent before rental.
Insurance
We do not provide any insurance, collision damage waiver, or loss damage waiver. You are financially responsible for the vehicle from pickup to return. By renting, you represent that:
• Your personal auto policy is active and in good standing.
• It includes both collision and comprehensive coverage.
• It extends to non-owned vehicles, including the one you’re renting.
• You’ve reviewed your policy’s exclusions — or confirmed coverage with your insurer.
We’ll review your declarations page at pickup, but that review is not a guarantee of coverage. If you can’t produce proof of qualifying insurance, the rental will be refused.
Deposit & Payment
• Credit card only. A credit card in your legal name is required. No debit, prepaid, virtual cards, or cash.
• Security deposit. Held as a pre-authorization at pickup. Higher amounts apply for renters under 25. The deposit does not cap your total liability.
• Release timing. Pre-authorization is released within 48 hours of return, absent damage, mileage overage, cleaning fees, or other charges. Disputes may extend the hold up to 60 days.
• Charge authorization. By signing, you authorize us to charge your card for any amounts owed under the agreement — rental fees, mileage overages, late fees, refueling, cleaning, damage repairs up to the vehicle’s full replacement value, and authorized towing.
How You Can Use the Vehicle
Allowed
• Personal recreational driving within Alabama.
• Out-of-state travel only with prior written approval from us.
Not Allowed
• Racing, rallies, autocross, track use, or reckless driving.
• Off-road or unpaved-surface driving.
• Rideshare, delivery, transportation-for-hire, or any commercial usez
• Any towing.
• Driving while impaired by alcohol, drugs, or impairing medication.
• Anyone other than the named renter driving the vehicle (additional drivers need a signed addendum).
• Food or beverages inside the vehicle — open or sealed, alcoholic or not.
• Smoking, vaping, cannabis, or any inhalable substance inside or near the vehicle.
Mileage, GPS Tracking & Remote Disabling
• Mileage cap. 100 miles per day standard; reduced caps for under-21 renters. Overage is billed automatically per mile to your card on file.
• GPS tracking. Every vehicle has an active GPS device. By renting, you consent to continuous tracking of location, speed, mileage, and operational status. Data may be shared with law enforcement and used as evidence. Consent cannot be withdrawn during the rental.
• Tampering. Disabling or obstructing the GPS is a material breach and may be a criminal offense.
• Remote Disabling Device (RDD). Some vehicles can be remotely immobilized in specific situations — confirmed theft, off-road use, racing, unauthorized out-of-state travel, GPS tampering, or other exigent circumstances. Before activation we confirm the vehicle is at or below 5 mph and make at least two contact attempts (with limited exceptions for active theft).
Damage & Financial Responsibility
You’re responsible for all damage occurring during the rental period, documented by walkaround photos at pickup and return. Normal wear and tear (light dust, road grime, hairline marks already noted at pickup) is not chargeable. Everything else is.
Examples of operator misuse you’re on the hook for
• Clutch abuse, over-revving a cold engine, or running it at redline.
• Using the wrong fuel grade or skipping a required additive.
• Continuing to drive after the temperature gauge hits red, the oil warning light comes on, or you hear knocking.
• Shifting from Drive to Reverse while moving, or engaging Park while moving.
• Driving on a flat tire or hitting curbs hard enough to damage sidewalls.
• Leaving accessories on long enough to drain the battery.
• Any operation contrary to the orientation instructions you initialed at pickup.
Total loss or theft
If the vehicle is totaled or stolen, you owe its Average Market Replacement Value — the average of three recent comparable sales from recognized classic-car valuation sources (Hagerty, Bring a Trailer, ClassicCars.com, Hemmings). You have 14 business days to respond with your own valuation. If we differ by more than 20%, a jointly-selected appraiser decides the amount owed to us.
Cleaning & Detailing Fees
• Minor soiling: $300
• Moderate soiling (significant stains, food/beverage residue): $500
• Severe soiling or odor (pet hair, smoke, cannabis, fluid spills, ozone treatment): $1000
Fuel & Return Condition
• Fuel level photographed at pickup. Return at or above that level or pay $5.00/gallon + $25 service fee.
• Same condition. Return the vehicle substantially as you got it, allowing for normal wear and tear.
• Early returns. The full rental fee is earned when the vehicle is released. No refunds for early returns unless we agree to one in writing at the time.
Late Returns
Grace periods require advance phone notice and approval.
Late fees are determined by the vehicle's add on hourly rate.
If we can’t reach you within 2 hours of the scheduled return time, we may treat the vehicle as unlawfully withheld, activate GPS and the RDD, and involve law enforcement.
Accidents, Breakdowns & Towing
• Accidents. Call 911 if there are injuries. Don’t admit fault. Document the scene, gather other parties’ info, and call us within 2 hours.
• Theft or significant damage. Report to police within 2 hours and get a report number, notify us within 2 hours, and provide the written report within 24 hours.
• Towing. Only we can authorize towing, and only Lappdogg Towing (Huntsville, AL) may perform it. The only exception is a genuine safety emergency where you’ve tried us twice and can’t reach us. Otherwise, unauthorized tows are at your expense, including any damage caused.
• Mechanical breakdown not your fault. We’ll arrange towing and reasonable assistance. We’re not responsible for consequential costs like lodging, transportation, or lost time.
Disputes, Governing Law & Attorney’s Fees
• Damage disputes. You have 10 days to dispute a damage charge in writing, then 10 more days to submit an estimate from any licensed Alabama repair shop. If estimates differ by more than 20%, a neutral appraiser decides, and the party further from that figure pays the appraiser.
• Governing law. Alabama law applies. Any dispute is heard exclusively in state or federal courts in Madison County, Alabama.
• Attorney’s fees. If we prevail in a dispute, you owe our reasonable attorney’s fees and costs.
• Limitation of liability. Our maximum liability to you is capped at the rental fee for the transaction at issue. We’re not liable for indirect or consequential damages.
Force Majeure
If a declared natural disaster, named storm, tornado, major flood, ice storm with a government emergency declaration, earthquake, act of war, or government-ordered closure damages the vehicle, and you took reasonable protective steps and notified us when possible, damage caused solely by that event is handled through a separate appraisal process. Ordinary bad weather or traffic does not qualify.
Bottom Line
Classic cars are special, and renting one carries more responsibility than a typical rental. By booking, you’re taking on full financial responsibility for the vehicle, agreeing to GPS tracking, and confirming that your personal insurance will cover it. If any of this raises questions, ask us before you sign — not after.
